80s Hen Party Dance Class NewcastleTurn the whole room up to eleven.

Howay — there is a reason the eighties never leave the shortlist. It is the one decade that belongs equally to the bride, her mam and the bridesmaid who was born in 1997 and somehow knows every synth line anyway. Your teacher writes the routine in real time from whatever the room responds to, in one of three rooms we hire near the city centre or out at the place your party has taken over, anywhere across the North East. Put the whole party through ninety minutes for £170, or sixty for £145, and add only what the venue charges to hire. Not danced since school? Neither has most of the room, and none of it shows by the second chorus.

Is my date free

Send the date. I’ll do the maths.

What comes back inside the day: whether the date is open, which of the three rooms fits your numbers best, and the two figures set out separately — what the teaching costs and what the room costs. Nothing bundled, nothing assumed. If the committee is still deadlocked on the theme, put the date in anyway and swap later; the diary slot is what matters this far out.

80s enquiry

Eight fields and you are done. Faster than the group chat will agree on anything.

Answered by a human within the day.

The decade that unites a mixed room

Loud enough to carry the shy ones.

Volume is the secret weapon here. An 80s hen party dance class is built on music so enormous and shapes so exaggerated that self-consciousness has nowhere to stand — you cannot half-commit to a shoulder roll, and the moment somebody goes fully in, the rest follow within about four counts. That matters more than it sounds when a dance hen party contains three generations, two people who genuinely cannot count music and one who did ballet until she was fifteen. The eighties flatten that hierarchy: nobody is technically correct, everybody is enormous, and the video looks superb regardless. Of every retro hen do dance class we get asked for, this is the one that needs the least explaining beforehand. It is also the friendliest of the retro hen party ideas for an afternoon slot, because there is no film to have watched, no lyrics to memorise and no in-joke to explain. Turn up, hear the first bar, remember everything.

ANobody is the odd one out.Three generations, one soundtrack, and the aunties usually take the front row.
BBig shapes hide small nerves.Choreography this bold cannot be done shyly, which solves the shyness.

Arrive and unclench

Bags in the corner, names swapped, and the first track on before the group has finished deciding who is standing where.

II

Loosen the shoulders

A warm-up disguised as showing off: rolls, points and struts that turn out to be half the routine already.

III

Build it in layers

Eight counts at a time, repeated until it sticks, with the bride handed the moment she will be made to repeat all night.

IV

Run it and record it

Phones up, a couple of clean takes, then the inevitable extra one because somebody blinked through the ending.

nothing here is photocopied from the last party — it gets built while you watch

Ninety minutes£170+ the venue’s hire cost

Enough runway for a full routine, a proper ending and the takes that get shared.

One hour£145+ the venue’s hire cost

Built for weekends where the afternoon is already spoken for. Same energy, tighter edit.

Where

Rooms we hire, all central.

We do not own a building; we hire proper rooms with sprung-ish floors and mirrors where it helps, and we name yours in the quote alongside its hire cost. Two sit inside the city centre, one is out in the leafier bit. All three are close enough to the Tyne Bridge for the photos to be worth the walk.

What the parties said.

01
Booked it thinking the older ones would sit it out. The older ones ran it. My aunt has since asked twice whether the teacher does birthdays.

Ninety minutes and I never once looked at my phone. The bit where we all hit the same shape at the end is now the screensaver on three separate laptops.

Two figures quoted, two figures paid, no surprises on the day. After the faff of organising everything else that weekend, that alone was worth it.

everything an organiser needs before booking ↓

How eighties does the choreography actually get?+

As far as your group will follow it, which is usually further than anyone expects. The vocabulary is unapologetic — grapevines, shoulder rolls, the pointed arm on the beat, a bit of aerobics-class swagger — but it is taught at whatever speed the slowest hen needs, so committing hard is a choice rather than a requirement.

Do we need leg warmers and neon headbands?+

Only if raiding a charity shop appeals. Every scrap of costume comes from your own party — nothing is stocked, hired out or handed over here — and the class runs the same in joggers. What we would say is that a room in matching neon films beautifully, so the effort is rarely wasted.

What does an 80s hen dance class cost in total?+

£170 buys the ninety-minute session and £145 the sixty, plus whatever the venue charges to hire — two numbers, both in writing before you agree to anything. The fee itself does not move with headcount, so a party of nine and a party of nineteen pay the identical amount. Take the class at your own hen house and there is nothing to pay on the venue side at all.

Is it high impact for anyone with dodgy knees?+

No. The bounce is in the arms and the attitude rather than the jumping, and anything springy has a flat-footed version offered in the same breath. Tell us in the form who is nursing what and the teacher builds around it without drawing attention to anybody.

Can we book it around a restaurant reservation?+

Yes, and most parties do. Give us the time your table is booked and we will work backwards — the sixty-minute session exists precisely for weekends stacked that tightly, and Grey Street is a short stroll from both of the city-centre rooms.

Are we allowed to film the finished routine?+

Please do. Time is left at the end for a couple of clean takes, phones propped wherever the light is best, and nobody minds the outtakes being the ones that circulate. Several of ours have ended up projected at the reception months later.

Themes that also go big.
