The weekly timetable-to-be

Dance Classes in NewcastleTwenty styles. Demand decides the timetable.

This city has plenty of schools with terms, grades and a building to pay for. We’ve inverted that machine entirely: each of the twenty styles keeps its own free queue, and only when a queue can honestly fill a room do we hire the space, book its teacher, and tell the queue before we tell the city. Live classes cost £10 a session or £32 across four straight weeks — printed here on purpose — with no term fees, no memberships and no partner required anywhere. Your signature is the vote that makes a class exist.

Your name is the deciding vote.

Six boxes, half a minute, zero commitment. The postcode genuinely matters — it steers which side of the Tyne the room gets hired on. When your style earns its teacher, its room and its start date, the launch email reaches this list before anyone else in the city hears.

Grown-ups first

For adults who never got round to it.

Newcastle already does children’s dance brilliantly; that’s not our lane. The names on our lists belong to people whose last dance was at somebody’s wedding — people after an evening without a screen in it, who’d sooner start a class from zero alongside other zeros than gatecrash week thirty elsewhere. Launch night is a level floor — everyone new together — and the kit list is whatever your wardrobe already holds, because we don’t sell or supply any.

nine honest answers ↓

How do dance classes get launched at Newcastle Dance Studio?+

In reverse order to everywhere else: each style holds a free interest list, and once a list can genuinely fill a room we hire the space, book the teacher and email the list before anything is advertised. No half-empty launches, no cancelled Tuesdays.

What's the price once a class is actually running?+

£10 a session pay-as-you-go, or £32 for a four-week block — printed here rather than hidden behind an enquiry form. No term fees, no memberships, no registration charge.

Does putting my name down commit me to anything at all?+

Nothing. The list is free, it isn't a marketing ambush, and the only email that matters is the launch one — evening, address, price, how to grab a place. Timing wrong? Simply don't come.

Is this for adults or is it a kids' dance school?+

Adults first, always — the 17-to-75 bracket is the engine of every list and complete beginners are the majority. Junior brackets exist on the form, and enough younger names in one style prompts us to look at an earlier session.

What kit or experience does week one expect?+

None and none. Clothes you can move in, shoes that stay on, and the nerve to walk through the door — the studio doesn't sell or lend kit, and launch-night classes assume nobody has danced since a wedding.

Do the partnered styles need me to bring somebody?+

No — salsa, bachata, ballroom and tango all run on rotation, so arriving solo is standard and you'll dance with the whole room by the end. Couples who want to stay paired just say so.

Where in Newcastle will classes actually happen?+

In hired central rooms, commissioned one class at a time instead of paying for an empty building — the launch announcement carries the exact address, and the postcode column on the form tells us which side of the Tyne wants it most.

Everyone else in Newcastle seems to dance already. Honestly, me?+

That's precisely what launch nights are for: the entire room starts on the same evening, which is the least intimidating way to begin anything. Week one carries anyone who arrives on time.

Can I queue for two or three styles at once?+

Absolutely — one half-minute form per style, each list emails independently, and plenty of people just take whichever launches first.
