Wicked Hen Party Dance Class NewcastleTwo friends, one very big song.
The film put it back on everybody’s phone, but the reason it works for a hen weekend is older than the film: at heart this is a story about two women who become each other’s person, which is more or less the brief for the whole day. A Wicked hen party dance class leans into that — the bride and her closest friend take the front, everybody else takes the ensemble, and the teacher writes their own routine around whoever is in the room. Pencil, never ink; nothing is prepared in advance for a group nobody has met. £170 for the ninety or £145 for the hour, plus only the venue’s hire cost. No experience needed and no high notes required.
Tell us the when.
The date, a rough number and the time you would like to start is plenty to be going on with. Inside the day you will know whether the slot is open, which of the three rooms gives you space for the ensemble, and exactly what it costs — the flat teaching fee written first, the room’s own hire charge written underneath it.
no singing is required at any point, which relieves about half of every group ✦
The two-hander at the heart of it.
Most themes give the bride a solo and everybody else a formation. This one gives you a duet and a chorus, which is a far better shape for a hen do dance class: the bride and her maid of honour get something proper to do together, and the other twelve get the big sweeping ensemble material that looks enormous on film. Groups that arrive expecting to giggle their way through are usually the ones taking it most seriously by the end.
The music does a lot of the work. There is a reason anything with a key change in it sells out on Grey Street — a chorus that size does half the choreographer’s job — and a dance hen party built on one gets a genuine goosebumps moment at roughly the eighty-minute mark. It is one of the few hen party ideas that reliably makes somebody’s mother cry, and among the hen party activities on offer in the city it is the one most often requested afterwards by a guest planning her own weekend.
Arrive and pair off
Coats down, the duet cast — usually by unanimous shouting — and the ensemble introduced to itself.
The sweep and the reach
Ten minutes of the big theatrical shapes that make everything afterwards look considerably more expensive.
Written as it goes
Which numbers, which lift of the arms, where the crowd parts for the bride — all decided by the teacher in the room.
One take, lights low
The final run filmed properly, producing a video that turns up at the wedding without any warning.
nee two parties get the same routine — that is what composing live actually means
Time for the duet, the ensemble and the ending everybody came for. The usual choice for this theme.
One number taught cleanly, big finish included. Right for a group with curtain-up or a table to reach.
Townhouses in Jesmond, a barn near Hexham, a flat with the sofa shoved back — teaching fee only, no room charge.
one figure whatever the numbers — nobody’s price should gan up because a cousin joined late
Space to sweep.
Theatrical arms need floor, so all three rooms we hire are booked by the hour for your group alone, with mirrors along one wall and room enough for a crowd to part down the middle. Which room you get, and what it costs to hire, is written into the quote before you say yes to any of it.

Wicked, asked and answered.
seven things people check first ↓
Do we need to be able to sing?+
Not a note. This is a dance class from start to finish and the recording does all the singing, which comes as a relief to roughly half of every group. If somebody belts the chorus while dancing that is their own decision and nobody will stop them.
Which songs does the routine use?+
Decided once the teacher has met the room. The obvious enormous one is usually in there somewhere, but whether the afternoon leans on the friendship numbers or the show-stopper depends on your group and gets chosen on the day rather than promised in June.
What will a Wicked hen class cost us?+
£170 for ninety minutes or £145 for an hour, flat for the whole party, with the venue’s hire cost set out separately in the same quote. Book it at your hen house and the venue line reads zero.
Can the bride’s mum and nan join in?+
They regularly do, and this theme suits them better than most, because the ensemble parts are broad and slow rather than sharp and fast. The teacher gives anyone who wants it a gentler version that still finishes in the same formation as everybody else.
Is green face paint expected on the day?+
Only if you fancy it. Nothing themed is handed out, hired or included by us, so anything emerald in the room arrived in somebody’s bag. Plenty of parties settle on one green ribbon between them and call the matter closed.
How much space does this actually need?+
More than a solo routine and less than you would fear. A cleared living room takes a group of ten comfortably; the hired rooms take twenty-plus with space for the crowd to open up in the middle. We will say honestly if your room is too small.
Can we book two themes across a weekend?+
Some groups do — a class on the Saturday afternoon and something entirely different on the Sunday morning. Each session is priced on its own and the second can be a completely different theme without any extra admin.
